The nominees include the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź, central Poland; the Museum of Amber in the Baltic city of Gdańsk; the "Under the Swan" Museum of Pharmacy in the north-central city of Bydgoszcz; and two museums in the southern city of Kraków: the Museum of Photography and the Krzysztofory Palace, a branch of the Kraków City Museum.

The EMYA winners will be announced on May 24, 2025 in Białystok, northeastern Poland, at a ceremony hosted by the city’s Sybir Memorial Museum, the winner of the 2024 European Museum of the Year Award and of the Council of Europe Museum Prize.

The Sybir Memorial Museum documents the history of Poles deported to Russia's remote Siberia region, including czarist repression and mass deportations in the Soviet era.

Run by the European Museum Forum, the European Museum of the Year Awards programme aims to promote innovative ideas in museum management across the continent.
