Pietrzykowski was 23 and Poland's second-best bantamweight fighter when in 1940 he arrived with the first transport of prisoners to the newly created Auschwitz concentration camp.
He was forced to fight for Nazi entertainment there in order to survive.

The movie, directed by Maciej Barczewski, is due to be released in Poland on August 27.
The music is by Bartosz Chajdecki, the author of scores to a number of hit films and television series, such as Gods and Time of Honour.
He spoke to Radio Poland's Elżbieta Krajewska about his part in the making of The Champion of Auschwitz.
