The annual Opole Song Festival, first held in 1963, is now in its 60th year, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

The event began on Friday night with an opening concert entitled "From Opole to Opole," featuring performers such as Pectus, Viki Gabor, Roxana Węgiel, Wanda i Banda, Trubadurzy, Lombard, Zakopower, and Golec uOrkiestra, according to state news agency PAP.
Later, new acts took to the stage to compete for the best newcomer prize, state broadcaster TVP said.
On Saturday and Sunday, festival concerts will feature musicians including Halina Mlynkova, Alicja Majewska, Justyna Steczkowska, Edyta Górniak, Izabela Trojanowska and Krzysztof Cugowski, according to organizers.

The lineup also includes veteran pop singer Maryla Rodowicz, who has been on the Polish music scene for six decades.
