FOCUS :: Distinguished Indologist

Every year the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) recognizes eminent Indologists who have made outstanding contribution to Indian cause, by studying, teaching or doing research in India's philosophy, thought, history, art, culture, Indian languages and literature. The recipient of the Distinguished Indologist Award 2022 is professor Joanna Jurewicz, the chair of East Asia Studies at Warsaw University's Faculty of Oriental Studies.

The first recipient of the award in 2015 was German Professor Heinrich Freiherr Von Stietencron. The award comprises a citation, a gold-plated medallion, and US$ 20,000. The award ceremony for professor Joanna Jurewicz took place at the Embassy of India in Warsaw last month.
