The annual festival showcases a broad range of Japanese arts and crafts, from Butoh dance performances to traditional Noh theater, along with workshops, exhibitions, lectures and film screenings.

Among the highlights are Please Cry, a performative dance by Megumi Eda, based on her grandmother's experiences during World War II, and Ritsuko Takahashi's Butoh performance Equinox.

The festival, held at venues including Wrocław's Grotowski Institute, is part of a broader initiative to deepen cultural ties between Japan and Poland, highlighting shared aspects of art and heritage.

The event features contributions from several local institutions, including the New Horizons Cinema and the National Museum in Wrocław, which will present a collection of Japanese art.

Jerzy Grotowski was a visionary 20th-century theater director and educator.

Wrocław's eponymous Grotowski Institute is a key institution devoted to the promotion of theater arts, and its Studio Kokyu, the festival's lead organizer, focuses on education in theater and dance practice.

In Japanese, sakura refers to both the cherry tree and its blossoms, which symbolize the arrival of spring. This season in Japan is celebrated with Hanami, a traditional festival of flower viewing.

During Hanami, people admire the beauty and transient nature of the cherry blossoms, reflecting on the fleeting moments of life.
