UPDATE: Russia launches major missile attack on Ukraine, twelve killed in Dnipro

Russia launched a major missile attack on Ukraine on Saturday, killing at least 12 people and damaging some critical infrastructure.

A Russian strike hit a nine-storey apartment block in the city of Dnipro, eastern Ukraine, killing 12 people, including a 15-year-old girl, and wounding at least 64, according to local officials.

Valentyn Reznichenko, Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, posted on Telegram: "A Russian missile has already claimed 12 innocent lives..."

The Russian attacks on Saturday targeted critical infrastructure, including vital energy facilities, in the cities of Kyiv, Kharkiv and Lviv.

Ukraine successfully managed to shoot down 25 of 38 Russian missiles of various types, the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said.

Following the attack on an apartment building in Dnipro, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said: "Eternal memory to all whose lives were taken by Russian terror,” adding that local services were "fighting for every person, every life."
