The maneuvers bring together Russia's Northern, Pacific and Baltic Fleets as well as the Caspian Flotilla, the Reuters news agency reported on Tuesday, citing Russian media outlets.

The main purpose of the exercises is to assess the actions of navy authorities at all levels, as well as the readiness of ship crews, naval aviation units and coastal troops to perform their tasks, Russia's Interfax and TASS news agencies reported, as cited by Reuters.

Since the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Russia has conducted numerous military exercises, both independently and in collaboration with other countries such as China and South Africa.

Recent drills have featured mobile nuclear missile launchers and joint operations with Belarusian forces.
