The United States has approved a new USD 375 million military aid package for Ukraine, which includes a range of weaponry such as air-to-ground missiles compatible with F-16 fighter jets, the Pentagon announced on Thursday.

The latest package comprises ammunition for HIMARS missile systems, 155mm and 105mm artillery shells, TOW missiles, Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems, armored vehicles, small arms, patrol boats, and other equipment. Notably, Ukraine will receive medium-range missiles that can be launched from F-16 fighter jets for the first time, significantly enhancing its air defense capabilities.

This marks the 66th U.S. military aid package to Ukraine since Russia's invasion began in February 2022. According to U.S. media reports, the White House is expected to announce additional military assistance to Ukraine, potentially worth up to USD 8 billion, aimed at future arms purchases from U.S. defense manufacturers.

President Joe Biden is anticipated to announce these funds during his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday. Zelenskyy, who attended the United Nations General Assembly earlier this week, is expected to present his peace proposals, dubbed a "victory plan," to President Biden.

Following his meeting with Biden, the Ukrainian leader is scheduled to meet with Vice President Kamala Harris.
