"I have arranged with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, with the knowledge of President Volodymyr Zelensky, that the meeting of both governments will take place in Warsaw on March 28," Tusk said.
"I hope that by that time, technical discussions at the level of ministers and deputy ministers will lead to a point where this meeting will be very useful in terms of border issues and our mutual trade exchange," he added.
His announcement came a day after Zelensky requested a government-level meeting along the shared border to resolve farmers' protests before the second anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Tusk said: "We are showing full solidarity and understanding here, but we are looking for actual solutions - not just demonstrations of our friendship and solidarity. That is why we have decided in Kyiv that we will recreate the format where the full governments of Poland and Ukraine meet."
Tusk clarified that no such meeting would occur before March 28, following a joint decision with Polish President Andrzej Duda.
He also briefed reporters on Poland's ongoing consultations with European political leaders, the European Commission, and the United States, emphasizing a unified stance in support of Ukraine and joint preparations for potential adverse scenarios.
Tusk said his government ministers were maintaining regular contact with their Ukrainian counterparts.
He stressed the importance of distinguishing between support for Ukraine and the protection of Polish farmers in public and international discourse, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Poland's commitment to Ukraine, he said, from the early days of the war, has been firm. At the same time, he added, the government is actively seeking protective measures for Polish agricultural interests affected by the liberalization of trade with Ukraine.
Additionally, Tusk announced plans to classify certain border crossings with Ukraine and selected road and rail segments as critical infrastructure.
The move aims to ensure an uninterrupted flow of military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, reflecting an organizational shift to facilitate smoother transport operations.
Protesters have on occasion blocked military convoys at border crossing points, the PAP news agency reported.
