On August 1, Poland will honour the heroes of the 1944 Warsaw Uprising, marking the 79th anniversary of the start of the World War II-era revolt, a heroic act of resistance in which poorly equipped Polish fighters took up arms against the country’s German invaders.
On Tuesday, the Warsaw Rising Museum unveiled a 3-minute video entitled "Love Always," directed by Tadeusz Śliwa.
The effort aims to promote the event in the media, "aired both in full version as a music video and as a 30-second spot," officials said.
The song used in the film was written by Sokół, one of the biggest names in Polish rap music.
Interestingly, neither "Warsaw" nor "Uprising" are mentioned in the lyrics. It's a part of the idea behind this year's commemoration, which will this time focus on the feelings and relationships between those who fought in the uprising, rather than on "hitting high patriotic notes," the museum said.
"The insurgents risked their lives because they wanted to be able to live, love and make friends in a free Poland," said the director of the Warsaw Rising Museum, Jan Ołdakowski.
