The game on Sunday came a day after Poland lost a semifinal to France 2-3.

In Sunday’s battle for first place in this year’s Nations League, France defeated Japan 3-1.

The 2024 Men's Volleyball Nations League finals were held in Łódź, central Poland, from June 27 to 30. The matches were played by eight teams at the city's 13,000-seat Atlas Arena.

The head of the Polish Volleyball Association (PZPS), Sebastian Świderski, said ahead of the event that, for the Polish team, this year's Nations League finals would serve as the last stage of preparations for the Paris Olympics, which begin on July 26.

Last year, Poland won the Nations League after defeating the United States 3-1 in the final held in the Polish coastal city of Gdańsk.

In 2022, the Poles finished third after beating Italy in the third-place match.

In 2021, Poland won silver in the competition after losing 1-3 to Brazil in the gold-medal clash.

In 2019, the Poles took the bronze after beating Brazil 3-0 in the third-place match.
