Krystyna Janda highlighted that Stuhr, who passed away on July 9th at the age of 77, was a cherished collaborator for film and theater directors, and his impact on art and life was invaluable. She also emphasized his stature as a distinguished Pole and citizen who steadfastly defended freedom and values.
Jerzy Stuhr has passed away! One of the greatest is no longer with us! With achievements and a life that could have blessed several, even a dozen people, wrote Krystyna Janda on her Facebook profile.
He was a friend to people, the world, animals, and children. Chosen by the god of art, acting, and directing. Also a great teacher of art and life. He raised generations of Polish actors and directors, generously gifted thousands of viewers. His knowledge of human nature, its intricacies and brightness, was boundless. His joy for life, sense of humor, and imagination were a public good, fortunately, emphasized the actress.
Brave, always standing up for freedom and the common man. Not indifferent to injustice, cautious in judgments, loyal, true to his ideals, always true, noted Janda.
She disclosed that his wish was to pass away while performing on stage, an aspiration that came remarkably close to realization.
With his last strength, he performed in the final play at Teatr Polonia, which he directed and acted in. His great success "Geniusz" coincided with his performance in beloved Krakow, we read in the post.
From the beginning of our Foundation, he was with us for 20 years, directing and playing many wonderful roles, being here and sharing himself and his talent, hundreds of evenings. You could see him on stage only in our performances at Teatr Polonia and Och-Teatr.
We all knew, both the audience and we, how distinguished we were by him. What a great treasure, good, and honor we were blessed with. We will never forget, highlighted Janda.
My dear Jurku! Friend! My beloved. Rest in peace, you left the world, Poland, and us, others. Better, Janda wrote addressing Stuhr.
